    Bringing kids up vegetarian..

As a soon to be first time mum I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of raising kids on a vegetarian diet?...

    Hey

I'm 14 and im a vegetarian, ive been a vegetarian since i was 7. I eat eggs milk and cheese but no meat fish or poultry. I dance 5 days a week AND play netball. My mum has never had a problem with me being vegetarian.Mum makes sure i have a few vegetables each night and i have Vegie delight products ALL THE TIME as a substitute at friends houses or when mum cooks up her meat i use my 'meat'. So raising a vegetarian child should be fine haha.

im proud to say that my daughter is loving the vege range. She started to go off the meat sausages and since giving her the "bacon" rashers and the vege delights sausages she eats all her dinner :)

    Hello Clairey and anyone else

Hope all is well with your pregnancy / baby.  I am mother to a 12 and a 10 year old, both have never eaten meat.  I have been vegetarian for about 25 years.  My brief advice regarding vegie children is to introduce each food slowly (and patiently!).  We have used Vegie Delights in their various incarnations not as a staple but as a sort of treat food.  Stick as much as possible to unprocessed legumes etc.  Much as we all like some of the meat replacement products around, they are pretty processed.  Browse through an Indian recipe book and modify recipes - millions of Indians over thousands of years have all been born vegetarian!

    Best wishes to all, Heather
