I tried the Roast for the first time last night. Excellent! I roasted some vegetables with it and it makes a great dinner.

This should prove very popular as there are not many products which are quite like it in style and flavour.

I am from Adelaide and find it hard to get a comprehensive range of Sanitarium stuff :[ Coles and Woolies seem to have the rashers , roast, sausages, and some of the frozen stuff, depending on the store location, but they seem to have cut down on other stuff....

I would love to get the chicken style luncheon meat annat .... anyone else here from Adelaide that knows whre I can get more of the Sanitarium products ?

Sausage roll mix, where are you?

I'm really sad that i can no longer find the sanitarium sausage roll mix anywhere. It was my favourite of all the products. Not only did it make excellent tasting healthy sausage rolls but it was an excellent addition to any meal calling for a mince substitute. The new bolognaise mince doesn't compare to the sausage roll mix. Bring it back!

Stir fries and Bolognese are no longer the domain of meat eaters.

Where's my Schnitzel?

I was alarmed when the Dubbo Woolies stopped selling Schnitzel, but I assumed it was a lack of demand thing (vegetarians are few on the ground in Dubbo), but now I have moved to Northern NSW - the capital of hippiedom, and am frantic! I have tried in three different supermarkets - and nothing - they are all stocking Fry's brand which is horrible. What has happened? where can I get my schnitzel? I'm in Lismore.

got this recipe from a santitarium book, its worth keeping an eye out when they are offering them for free you just ring up and order one and they send them out.

1 zuccini grated

1 carrot grated

1/2 cup low fat cheese

1 onion diced

1 cup corn

1/2 cup wholemail flour

3 eggs beaten with some oil mixed in, says 1/4 cup but you dont need that much

i cheat and microwave the onions in the microwave for 2 mins with a bit of water in the bottom, saves using a fry pan.

mix carrot, onion, zuccini, corn, flour, cheese, eggs & oil in container and then scoop into a pregreased muffin tin.

makes 12 muffin sized pieces

i'm really sick of that an excuse! if sanitarium cant actually keep a product in stock at the shop we cant buy it! hence why the sales are low! i am appalled at my local coles selection of products every time i go. i could never get the chicken or ham slices because when they were in stock 2 days later they were sold out. why not delete the *** egg white containing smoked slices that are always in stock that nobody wants?! thats right because sanitarium doesnt give a *** about customers.

and to everyone obsessed with the new roast: save yourself some money and buy the luncheon roll and put in in the oven rolled with some spices! i've been doing it for ages! same with the sausages. lime and ginger chickn ones are really good. if you can find them in stock!

Sanitarium Sausage Roll Mix - Found something Similar

I've finally found something that can replace the sausage roll mix that sanitarium no longer sells.

I have tried it out and it makes sausage roll well and tastes fairly similar to me, (it has been a while though i've forgotten a little bit of what the Sanitarium ones tasted like).

It's made by Vegemeal and is made over in NSW.

Check it out, it's for sale on Ebay...

Type in 'Vegetarian Sausage Roll Mix' and it'll come up.

Hi There, Has anyone tasted the yummy vegan belgium chocolate from www.healthygoodchocolate.com.au? They are in Australia and send free samples if you email them. I have seen the ingredients list & it has raw unprocessed cocoa, acai berry & blueberry & stamped VEGAN & tastes delicious. There's a dead animal in my icecream!

Just thought I'd comment on foods that have animal in them that I never expected, and am hoping other people will add to it. It may help new vegetarians along the way....

Icecream - gelatine - some brands

Cheese - rennet/enzyme - a lot of brands

Thickened cream - gelatine - all brands that I've seen

Chewing gum - humectant - can be from animal or vegetable origin, though I found out recently that all brands of Wrigley's are suitable for vegetarians

Naan bread - humectant - as above, some brands

Lollies - soft ones like jubes - gelatine. Apparently there is a couple of brands that KMart sells that are gelatine free. Message me if you want full details

There'll be more, I just can't think of at the moment. I must say it was such a big surprise when I first became vegetarian and started educating myself as to just how much food is made with animal products.

Country Hotpot (Can/Tin)

I just tried the country hotpot last night, I made the shepherd's pie recipe on the label. Instead of using curry powder I used tomato paste and tomato sauce, and I added salt, and I used shortcrust pastry for the base, and it was yum! Hubby couldn't get enough!

I've honestly found that doing usually meat meals without the meat the dish actually tastes better than with meat!

It's selling in the major stores for around $7. I bought some last night but haven't had yet, I've heard its very yummy! At least there will be another option for us veggies at Christmas time ;) and it's brought back the option of a yummy Sunday night roast!

The supply of Vegie Delight Schnitzels and Lentil Patties in my local (Malvern) Woolies and Coles supermarkets is sporadic, to say the least. By buying them up when I spot them, I generally manage to keep a supply but now they've disappeared altogether.

Can anybody please help? WHERE in Melbourne can these products be bought?

Otherwise, I'm going to go hungry!!!

The newest change to the vegie delights range, a new recipe for the lentil patties, makes them taste, and feel revolting!

I was completely hooked on them, having one for breakfast and i sometimes even took them to school (not such a good idea!)

but then they appear with a pink sticker on them saying "new improved recipe"

IMPROVED ? (N)(N)(N)(N)!!

am i just wierd or is this a widely held opinion?

must they keep changing their recipes! and their products! argh!

I have to agree that the removal of the sausage roll mix from the product range is very disappointing. It was a real favourite when people were coming over for drinks and we found that the meat eaters liked them just as much as ourselves. I would welcome its return or a new product that could fill this gap.

In terms of the pepperoni question - there was a 'Not Pepperoni" product on the market not so long ago that was available in Australia. It really does seem that the choices are becoming narrower.

Sanitarium Sausage Roll Mix

I had just been searching the net trying to find the sausage roll mix so I could stock up because it no longer seemed to be in stores,but instead found out (much to my disappointment!) that it no longer exists!! I absolutely LOVED it and regularly made it for my family and also my non vegetarian friends who totally got into it as well. Please bring it back, and also the sanitarium vege mince aswell (so great for taco's and spaghetti bolonaise) PLEASE!! :)

P.S Love the vege delight hot dogs too!
