What were they thinking? This was a great product. No longer can I make my vegetarian scotch eggs, that even had dedicated meat eaters asking for more. Sanitarium, you have deleted some of your best products. Really what you need to be doing is promoting more options, not reducing them. Stir-Fry Strips were also great as was Rediburger. Staples in our household now, sadly gone.

I have tried it out and it makes sausage roll well and tastes fairly similar to me, (it has been a while though i've forgotten a little bit of what the Sanitarium ones tasted like).
It's made by Vegemeal and is made over in NSW.
Check it out, it's for sale on Ebay...
Type in 'Vegetarian Sausage Roll Mix' and it'll come up.
Hope you find this usefull.

I tried to look for it on ebay but had no luck, do you remember who the seller was?

Australia doesn't have many choices when it comes to vegetarian convenience food.

What a shame that the company that is the most famous in the country for selling vegetarian food products doesn't seem to be able to get it right.

I know it's competitive out there, but come on. Once you've got a good product mix, you stick with it, then play around with new products, and if they don't work, then give them the boot, and try new ones.

Sanitarium would have lots of extremely loyal customers for their Vegie Delights lines, if they would just respect them a little more.

I have never joined a forum in my life but after being absolutely SICK of trawling the supermarkets to find the sausage roll mix, I decided to google to find a recipe. Found this forum.I can't believe Sanitarium have had this forum running on their site for almost a year and yet have posted no reply. I stumbled across another forum on this site discussing how lines have been discontinued due to poor sales and one participant talked about the VERY poor product exposure. I agree completely - the sanitarium tinned food (rediburger, links, casserole mince etc.) and the (now extinct??) sausage roll mix have been on the bottom shelf of my supermarket (not Coles or Woolworths, but better for veggie options) for more than THREE YEARS!! So many products have come and gone, yet RARELY do Sanitarium offer special prices etc. to lure customers. Instead they discontinue products due to poor sales.The sausage roll mix was unbeatable. I mixed Morrocan spices and chopped sunflower seeds and it was the BEST. IF Sanitarium are not planning to bring the product back, please be decent and let YOUR CUSTOMERS know. I'm sure that for every post on this forum, there are a multitude more customers who are still waiting. Indeed, at my supermarket, the space where the sausage roll mix used to live is still there, waiting.Mel.

As a meat-eater myself, I just went to all the trouble of expressing my dismay at the deletion of the sausage roll mix (and, to a lesser extent the nuggets and - as it turns out - the Rediburger).

Those products made our lives so much easier, and I don't know about anyone else, but we always had a stockpile of them in the pantry for when guests were coming over and the like (in the case of the sausage rolls) or the Rediburgers (which were great for BBQs).

No wonder we haven't been able to find them over the last year.

We had assumed it was Coles just not stocking them (ours went through a phase of not even having the sausages).

Well I joined up just to post my 2 cents worth. The thread seemes to have broadened a little bit from just being about the missing sausage roll mix to include other products, so here goes...

What is it with Sanitarium deleting of so many the 'old' favourites? I really miss the Rediburger and it was an absolute staple in our pantry. Great mashed up for a mince replacement in spag bog (that even all my meat-eater friends loved), cut into strips and wrap in puff pastry to make mini sausage rolls for parties... Ahhh the fond memories. And no comparable replacement provided either.

I've no beef (no pun intended!) with Sanitarium refeshing or expanding its vegetarian product range, but why drop the established products that sold well in the process? (I think there's an old saying about babies and bathwater that covers this). I agree with an earlier post I read about always seeing the shelves empty of the popular veggie lines and stacked full of the slow mover duds. Did anyone even look at what sold well and what didn't before just culling all these lines?

Sanitarium, please listen to your customers, we're obviously motivated enough to seek out this forum and to try and communicate our needs with you!

I contacted Sanitarium direct and they said there is nothing left of any of the dried mixes at all. I told them about this thread on their forum and how alot of people are disappointed they have discontinued these lines -

Nearly forgot another one as somebody else mentioned the BBQ sausages in the tin are no longer available. They also had really really yummy ones that had herbs in them. They seem to be replacing it all with ready made frozen products. Does anybody else remember the yummy vegie cherios that sat alongside the not dogs when longalife owned the brand before Sanitarium bought the products out? You could also get 'Not dagwood dogs' on a stick in the freezer section that were awesome!

I'm so glad I'm not going nuts! I've been trying to find it for ages too! I was distraught enough a few years back when the Nugget mix mysteriously vanished from the supermarket shelves but when the sausage roll mix did a disappearing act too I was bewildered to why!? Even my meat eating husband would ask me to buy it. He loved the Nugget mix more. Also I the TVP (can't remember if it was Sanitarium or not as I never really looked just bought the box which sat along side the other two). But it was so much nicer then the one that has replaced it by Planet Organic. It is a very poor substitute.

Bring it all back please!!!!

Howdy folksOnce more a really good vegetarian product off the market. For years I have preached the Vegan/Veggie Ethic (have been into Animal Rights issue for over 27 years now) and have slowly converted some of my family and friends to a veggie lifestyle. At parties, the Sausage Roll Mix has proved a tremendous success - folk saying that they preferred this over meat sausage rolls.Come on Sanitarium, have a heart for the animals and bring back the Mix so that we who a vegan/veggie can convert folks, not just be talking about the issues of eating animals and factory farming, but likewise via the taste buds.So heartening to link up with like-minded folks.

It seems to me that this is a case of yet another corporation giant that does not listen to it's customers. I have asked them several times to bring this product back but they just don't listen. The vege delights range is slowly dissappearing from Coles in Box Hill. Safeway is a dead loss and carries virtually none of the range at all. It's so hard to be a vegetarian in a country dominated by carnivores.Are you listening Sanitarium? I'll say it again, and I'm not the only one asking: BRING BACK THE SAUSAGE ROLL MIX!!!
