Stir fries and Bolognese are no longer the domain of meat eaters.

Have you tried the new strips & mince from Vegie Delights? If so what were they like? What did you cook? Was the result what you were hoping for? Tell us all here.

I have tried the new mince, but didn't like it at all. The flavour and smell was too strong. ( strong of what I am not sure) It wasn't pleasant.  Have not tried the new strips as the smell and flavour of the mince has put me off.

I do like a lot of the previous products, but the new ones no.

I haven't tried any of the Vegie Delights range yet......  waiting for more feedback from people before I give it a go.

I really like the Sani So Good Soy milk so I'm quite accustomed to your products.

I have tried both. I hated the stir-fry strips. They had an awful smell and flavour that did not blend nice with the accompaning vegies. I think I will stick to legumes or tofu for stir fires in future. I think I will use the mince again, would love to make an authentic chilli con carne without animals being thrown into the pot. I used the mince the first time in pasta sauce, although it was not a complete success, it was rather tasty. Wish it came in smaller packs as I am the only vegetarian in my house who'll eat it.

i hated the stir fry strips.  they tasted awful.  i made a stir fry with them and ended up throwing it out. i love the mince though.  i takes on the other flavours i cook with really well.  normally i make spaghetti or tacos with it.

The Bolognese sauce is great, trouble is my local Woolworths ( Neutral Bay ) has stopped stocking it and the other local supermarket in my area (IGA) doesn't stock it either. Could someone please let me know if this is the case in all Woolworths in Sydney ?- if it isn't then I'll complain to the management at my local Woolworths and tell them to pull their heads in and stock it again ( and while they're at put the vegie bacon rashers back on the shelves as well)!

Re: Stir fries and Bolognese are no longer the domain of meat eaters.

I have tried them and loooove the Mince, although now I am having trouble finding a place that stocks them...The Stir Fry strips were kinda weird though my Mum and Dad liked them...I had to do something to them to get rid of the funny taste, so I took them outta the juice that comes in the packet then I popped them in a stainless steel (or glass) dish and then put these things in....

soy sauce, worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, sesame oil and some massel veggie stock...

and then I mixed it all over the strips getting them fully covered and swimming in the mix, then I popped them in the fridge for 2 or 3 days, then took them out and used them in a stir fry...YUM!  It took the weirdness away and made them tender and delicious, the sauce kinda went in with the stir fry a bit to but then I added my regular sauce and it worked great, I was eating it out of the pan, couldn't even wait for it to get to the plate....try it, it might work for you to...I use a few table spoons of everything except the garlic, just a teaspoon of that and a little more of the worcestershire...Anyhoodle, if it works for ya then great, if not, maybe you could try your own marinade =o)

    YAY for veggies!

    Howdy y'all!

I'd love to be able to try the stir fry strips and also the mince, but sadly I can't. Being vegan, the egg and milk stuff in them makes them out of bounds. I think it's great that Sanitarium have the veggiedelight range of products, and that a lot of the stuff they make is vegan, but it'd be absolutely excellent if everything in the range was vegan.

Re: Stir fries and Bolognese are no longer the domain of meat eaters.

The only sauce I found the stir fry strips taste good with is satay (peanut.)

The TVP mince I didn't like, but the ready to eat mince in the plastic packet I like fine, so does the family.

The hot dogs are fantastic, wouldn't know the difference from the meat version.

I like the vegie version of bacon, great with vegie schnitzel in vegetarian version of caesar salad. Also good with eggs (I have my own hen, I feed her and give her lots of love and she gives me eggs in return...)

The vegie schnitzel is also great topped with a tomato based sauce (bottle one is easy) and melted cheese (vegetarian suitable, with non-animal rennet.)

I'm not all that fussed about the sausages.

It's great that we have these options, as gives me more options of what to cook.

I only wish there was more vegetarian suitable cheeses on the market. I went through my local Coles' selection of cheeses and not one of them was suitable for vegetarians! So of course I wrote in a complaint! I get my cheese from Bi-Lo, although I believe some Woolworths branded cheese's are suitable for vegetarians. But I think Sanitarium should bring out vegetarian cheese (matured tasty would be great!)

Life is an amazing adventure! Enjoy it, share it, and help others enjoy it too! And lead by example.

Both Coles and Safeway have a good range of non animal rennet cheese, you just have to know where to look, they have a small range of them in the main cheeses section where the wrapped singles cheeses can be found, usually Bega brand, not sure where their vegetarian tasty cheese one went but I have been overseas a few years). They also have camembert and brie etc. You can also find more range in the fresh cheese section somewhere around the deli areas, I know Safeway have their own branded tasty cheese sold in blocks which is vegetarian and very yummy! :)

Re: Stir fries and Bolognese are no longer the domain of meat eaters.

I've had the stir fry strips in stir frys with ready sauce mixes like Kantong etc. I do agree with the fact that it needs to be sat in the sauce to 'maranade' otherwise its got an obvious weird taste (not unpleasant particularly). I didn't mind them.

I have bought the packet mince but have not tried it yet. I usually use the dried TVP version which I find delicious with a rich bolagnaise sauce. It's also good with taco's etc.

While living in the UK there is a vegetarian brand of assorted ingrediant foods called Quorn.  I've written to Sanitarium in the hope they will check it out and see about selling it here in Australia under their own name or something.  You guys would freak out if you saw and tasted the range. Its bloody awesome stuff!! :)

I have also tried the strips and mince but did not like either but when I make a bolognese I use the casserole mince in the tin. It is beautiful so try that.

Re: Stir fries and Bolognese are no longer the domain of meat eaters.

I liked the strips cooked to the recipe on the pack (laksa or something). Also tried doing some other stuff with it (can't remember) but it turned my husband off them ;o) Like Kaz's idea about marinating, will try that and see if Mr B can cope with that. Agree, they go excellent with peanut/satay style cooking

Not tried mince (sounds scary ... was never a 'mince' fan). Though I don't mind the packet TVP stuff you mix with boiling water coz it's not wet when you buy it, so psychologically I can cope.

I didn't like the thought of 'mock' meats when I became veg 5.5 yrs ago. I didn't want to be reminded of animal flesh and thought it was just for meat heads trying to be tricked or weaned off the stuff. In the last year or so I've ventured into some of them (for something diff) and decided ...

    (a) I love the rashers. To me they taste like 'bacon' .. though haven't touched the stuff for years so what would I know really! And I know I'm not eating piggies.
    (b) Love the hotdogs ... also taste 'real'. Who would want to eat 'real' hotdogs anyway ... if they knew what was in them :oO

Re: Stir fries and Bolognese are no longer the domain of meat eaters.

I really enjoy the chilli ginger "not sausages", they are really good. Chop them on pizza, with veg etc. What to others think? and have you any new recipies for me to try. I love trying new veg meals.
